Cremeria Milano, ice cream parlour in Istanbul, Turkey

All over the world, no matter where I am, I’m always looking for good ice cream. In every developed country it’s easy to find a nice ice cream but finding that special flavour or special quality can be a completely different story. Just by coincidence I ran into a superb parlour during my 6 day stay in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul. At Cremeria Milano I had the best ice cream ever!

Instead of most people who run into the nearest pub to drink their beer, I like to walk around in the evening and watch the locals. Preferably I walk around while enjoying a nice ice cream. When I found myself in Istanbul, I enjoyed the walk across the Galata bridge and watch the many fishermen at work. Continuing into the same direction, one will end up on the busy shopping street leading towards Taksim square. While wondering around I suddenly noticed a couple of ice cream parlours on my left hand. One of them was Cremeria Milano which I simply had to visit…

Once inside I noticed coconut ice cream was on their menu. Both happy and excited, I ordered my favourite combination of pistachio and coconut. Together with a cone, it’s simply delicious. If they’d only had the cream of Dino Gelato in Marrakech and the perfect ice cream would be a fact. However, this was still a fantastic ice cream. In fact, it was so good, I returned time after time again…

An ice cream at Cremeria Milano might not be the cheapest (9 TL for a cone with two scoops) but, if you like ice cream, it’s totally worth it. I have tried ice cream all over the world and this is by far my favourite. With many restaurants just around the corner around the Galata tower, it’s a very convenient choice for a delicious desert!
